Southwest Human Resource Agency recognizes the needs of those who may be economically disadvantaged. The following programs have been established to help meet the specific needs you might have:
Head Start
The Head Start Program seeks to provide programming that will enhance children's growth and development in preparation for later academic and social pursuits. For more information, visit: www.swhrahs.org.
Child Care Services
The Child Care Certificate Program is a state and federally funded program that assists welfare and low-income families with their child care costs in order to remain employed and/or in school. For more information, visit: www.swhra.org/childcare/.
Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is a federally funded training and job program that creates a new approach providing workforce investment activities through statewide and local systems. Authorized workforce investment activities provided at the local level benefit job seekers, dislocated workers, youth, foster care participants, incumbent workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities, and employers. These activities promote an increase in employment, job retention, earnings, and occupational skill attainment by participants. For more information, visit: www.swhra.org/wia/.
Foster Grandparent Program
The Foster Grandparent Program provides personal services to children with special or exceptional needs by persons age 60+ with limited incomes. For more information, visit: www.swhra.org/seniors/index.php#Foster.
Chore Services
The Chore Program assist frail, low-income elderly and/pr handicapped persons with little or no family support by providing basic housekeeping and referral services. For more information, visit: www.swhra.org/seniors/index.php#Chore.
Nutrition Program
The Nutrition Program provides elderly and disabled persons a nutritious meal 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, in fourteen site locations. For more information, visit: www.swhra.org/seniors/index.php#Nutrition.
Rural Public Transportation
Rural Public Transportation system is designed to benefit the entire community including elderly, preschoolers, dialysis patients, and disabled. Vital transportation services are provided to the rural areas of Southwest Tennessee, linking these residents to doctors, grocery stores, employment, senior citizen centers, and recreation. Southwest Human Resource Agency continues its long history of being the
premier Community Services delivery organization in West Tennessee.
We are an Agency that continues to establish and maintain an outstanding
reputation for quality human services to West and Central Tennessee Communities.
Our growth and success is due to our desire and commitment to serving our
customer’s needs, whether that be Child Care services, providing a Head Start
for 3 and 4 year old children, providing public transportation, offering
assistance for energy needs, lending a helping hand for youth, dislocated, and
adult workers, or assisting our Senior population with basic needs.
I certainly appreciate our dedicated employees who are to be commended for
accepting the challenge of improving the services we offer.
